Join Dan Miller and Lew Del Gatto as they celebrate the legacy and music of pianist Horace Silver. Horace Silver was one of the most important composers and band-leaders in the history of jazz music. Horace brought together the modern sounds of Charlie Parker’s Bebop and fused it with the music of the gospel church creating his own brand of funky, blues-infused, soulful jazz music. The program will feature some of Silver’s greatest tunes including: Song For My Father, Strollin’, Peace, Doodlin’, The Preacher, Opus De Funk, Filthy McNasty and Senor Blues.
Trumpeter Dan Miller built his reputation touring and recording with Harry Connick Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Maynard Ferguson and Woody Herman. He brings together a tremendous group of musicians for an evening of hard bopping acoustic jazz, featuring saxophonist Lew Del Gatto, Miami pianist Brian Murphy, bassist Brandon Robertson and the legendary drummer Marty Morell.
