Professional Experience

2018 to present: Meteorologist and Weather Producer, WINK News. Previously worked as a meteorologist at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach S.C. and as a weather forecaster at WRUF-TV in Gainesville, Fla.

Awards & Recognition

Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorological Society.

I covered Hurricane Matthew in 2016 as the storm went right over Myrtle Beach and covered Irma’s significant impact to the area as a tropical storm in 2017.

News Philosophy

Our job as meteorologists isn’t just to forecast the weather. It’s explaining the science to you, the viewer, in a fun, accurate and engaging way!

Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement

I love exploring the outdoors with friends, family, and especially my puppy, Roger! I much prefer Diet Coke over coffee. I love to learn and would attend school for the rest of my life (and forecast the weather on the side) if I could. I enjoy being active as a dancer and swimmer, but football is my favorite sport - although I never played. Growing up an Auburn fan, I’ll always have a loyalty to the Tigers, but my main sports teams are the Florida Gators, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta Braves. I’m an alumni of the Chi Omega Fraternity and very passionate about our philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication with a certificate in Meteorology and Climatology from the University of Florida

Double trouble: 2 tropical waves to monitor in Atlantic Basin

After a calm week, things are heating up again in the Atlantic Basin. We’re now watching two areas of interest. The first is the tropical wave we’ve been monitoring for a few days now. This area is still producing a wide array of showers and storms this morning and a low-pressure system is expected to […]

Tracking Two Tropical Waves Near and in the Caribbean

As of Wednesday evening, we’re keeping an eye on two tropical waves: one over the central Caribbean, the other a couple hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The disturbance we have been discussing for a few days has the higher chance of development, at 70%, and is starting to develop in the central Caribbean […]

Increasing potential for tropical development in the NW Caribbean

A tropical wave over the central Caribbean is expected to move westward over the next few days, where it may develop into a broad area of low pressure by the end of this work week. From there, the National Hurricane Center gives it a 60% chance of tropical cyclone development. Since this disturbance hasn’t formed […]

New area of interest to monitor; another cold front coming

A broad area of low pressure could form over the western Caribbean Sea over the next few days. Since this disturbance hasn’t formed yet, there is significant model discrepancy on not only where it could go, but how strong it could be. Typically, we get better model data once a disturbance is better organized, because the […]

Higher rain chances heading into the last weekend of September

Deep, tropical moisture is slowly creeping back into our local forecast today and into the weekend. This large plume of moisture will allow for more humidity and more widespread storm activity. This afternoon and evening, stay weather aware as some storms may produce heavy rain, localized flooding, and frequent lightning. The best potential for storms […]

Scattered storms return to Southwest Florida

Scattered showers and storms return to Southwest Florida today. The majority of our rainfall will occur in the afternoon and evening, with a few pockets of heavy rain possible. We will likely dry out after sunset this evening. Expect mainly clear to partly cloudy and dry conditions overnight and into early Friday morning. Thursday is […]

Coolest morning since May for parts of Southwest Florida

Southwest Florida is experiencing one more cool morning before conditions return to normal for late September. Temperatures so far this morning have dropped to 69° in Fort Myers, 67° in Punta Gorda, and 71° in Naples. This marks the coolest start since May 18th, May 22nd, and June 16th respectively. Wednesday will feature another day […]

Cooler with low humidity Wednesday morning; tropics are quiet

Southwest Florida got to enjoy a day of lower than average humidity Tuesday — just in time for the first day of Fall! We’ll get to enjoy one more day of dry, less humid conditions before rain chances and humidity ramps up for the second half of the week. Wednesday will bring another day of […]

Front brings lower humidity and cooler temperatures for the start of Autumn

The first cold front of the season moved through Southwest Florida on Monday… and it’s about a month ahead of schedule! On average, our first cold front doesn’t arrive until mid or late October. Nevertheless, we will welcome this front with open arms, as it will bring us drier weather and lower humidity Tuesday and […]
