The Fort Myers Fire Department says two people were injured when a car crashed into a tree Saturday morning.

The fire department says they were dispatched to the crash around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Arcadia Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Firefighters found one person standing outside the car, with the other trapped. They say they were able to get the trapped person out of the vehicle with the help of hydraulic tools.

The fire department says both people from the car were transported to the nearby trauma center but did not share the extent of their injuries.

The fire department did not release information about what caused the crash.
