WINK News spoke with Diane Ivey, a volunteer who helped organize the event explaining what they’re doing at the event. They’ve been collecting supplies that will be going to non-profits throughout the county.

“We’ve got everything covered, you know, and we also have a peanut butter and jelly table where we are going to make 200 sandwiches. And chips and dessert and drinks for kids and we’re bringing that to the food pantry too. So, you know, it’s a way we can give and we want to do it,” Ivey said.

Rabbi Luna, also taking part in the event explained this is their first Hurricane-focused event because there is still a serious need in the community.

The event began at 9 a.m. with a breakfast in the temple. Next, the donations will be sorted out before they are distributed.
