Every person is helping to take a step closer to ending hunger. Their registration fees to participate go, as a donation, to the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

WINK News spoke with Barb Brown, the vice president of the Copperleaf Charitable Foundation about the walk.

“There was already a hunger problem here in Southwest Florida and Ian not only exacerbated that existing problem, but Ian came in and added a whole other layer of people who had never experienced anything like this before,” Brown said.

The pre-walk festivities began at 8:30 a.m. while the food drive ended at 10 a.m.
