A Fort Myers man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for having child sexual abuse images in videos.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Jeffrey Bruce Carboneau, 67, was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. He will also have to register as a sex offender. He pled guilty in September 2022.

The United States Attorney’s Office says the FBI conducted a search warrant at Carboneau’s workplace in July 2022. There they found him downloading child sexual abuse material and seized his computer and external hard drive.

During an interview with FBI agents, Carboneau admitted that the computer was his and he was the only one with access to it. He told investigators that he had been downloading child sexual abuse materials for years, including at work.

A forensic analysis of his computers and hard drives showed Carboneau had more than 100,000 images and 150 videos of children being sexually abused.
