Photo via CBS News. A man died in a crash early Sunday morning in Manatee County on US-41 off of Braden Avenue. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck was driving south on US-41 in the left turn lane. The driver was approaching a left curve in the road while the light was green at the intersection of Braden Ave. Another pickup truck was traveling north on US-41 in the center lane and was nearing a right curve in the road while the light was also green at the Braden Ave. intersection. The pickup truck traveling south attempted to make a left turn at the intersection to keep going east on Braden Ave. However, the front of the pickup truck traveling north collided with the right side of the pickup truck trying to turn left. After the collision, the pickup truck that attempted to turn left entered the northbound shoulder of US-41 and crashed into a traffic signal pole. The other pickup truck rotated and came to a stop within the intersection. The front-seat passenger, a 39-year-old man, in the pickup truck that hit the traffic pole was transported with serious injuries and later pronounced dead at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck that hit the traffic pole was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries with charges pending. The driver in the other pickup truck was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and driving while their license was suspended, he was booked into the Manatee County Jail. The crash is still under investigation by FHP.
