Bicyclist killed in Friday night collision with car

A bicyclist died after getting hit by a car Friday night in the westbound lanes of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard at Verona Street in Fort Myers.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, the bicyclist died from injuries.

The driver remained at the location and is cooperating with law enforcement.

WINK News saw the bicycle, which was in the middle of the street, taken away by law enforcement late Friday night.

The road is shut down and will remain so for several hours.
