There has been a lot of focus on how Hurricane Ian affected everything on land, but how is the water doing?

A research boat operated by the Florida Institute of Oceanography is testing the water in the Gulf.

The research boat is on day three of seven and on Thursday they were miles off of North Naples.

The last two days, a team of researchers from Florida Gulf Coast University and the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation were doing water grabs.

They were using a machine to pull up water from various sites to test it for things like chlorophyll and DNA.

Divers were expected to enter the water on Thursday to observe what the sea ground looks like and how the sea life is doing in the wake of Hurricane Ian.
