Comcast has deployed Xfinity vans with free Wi-Fi across Southwest Florida to assist the many people who have had their power turned back on since Hurricane Ian but are still waiting for their internet connections to be restored.

Each van can provide wireless internet connections to over 1,000 users. They will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Steve Goodman, a local business owner who hasn’t had Wi-Fi since Ian hit, says it has been a struggle keeping up with crucial emails and bills.

“Very frustrating, ’cause we get all our payments… we have to do it through the internet. Until our daughter found out yesterday about [the vans], and now my wife’s able to process our credit cards, but we’ve got a lot of money laying because we haven’t been able to process.”

There are four Southwest Florida locations for the Xfinity vans, subject to change each day. The Tuesday locations are:

  • Bonita Springs: Bonita Springs Public Library at 2687 Pine Ave.
  • Cape Coral: Walmart Supercenter at 1619 Del Prado Blvd S. It is set up in the Walmart parking lot between Coach Road and Del Prado Blvd S, directly south of Coral Point Drive.
  • Fort Myers: Walmart Supercenter at 17105 San Carlos Blvd.
  • Port Charlotte: Walmart Neighborhood Market (Charlotte Square) at 2150 Tamiami Trail.

Visit Comcast’s Hurricane Ian response and restoration updates page for the daily locations and use their restoration goal timetable to see when you will likely have internet access restored in your area.
