Ian Baunach charged in death of former wife in Hendry County

Ian Baunach, 43, was charged in the death of his former wife Katie Samantha Baunach, 39, in Hendry County on Monday.

According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office, after deputies and a team from the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team obtained a search warrant they found a large number of steroids within the home, which Ian Admitted belonged to him.

Ian was arrested and charged with 12 charges of Possession of Controlled Substances without a Prescription and taken to the Hendry County Jail.

A search warrant was obtained for Ian’s home because Baunach was still nowhere to be found.

During the four-day search, detectives determined that remains found on the property belonged to Katie Samantha Baunach.

On Oct. 10, the Hendry County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit charged Ian Christopher Baunach with 1st Degree Pre-Meditated Murder, Destruction/Conceal Physical Evidence, Use of Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony, Cremate Dead Body 48 hours after Death and Failure to Report Death to Medical Examiner.

Ian Christopher Baunach is currently being held in the Hendry County Jail with No Bond.
