Fort Myers Beach damaged by Hurricane Ian. (Credit: USAA) The Mayor of Fort Myers Beach talked about the next steps for the city after the president’s visit to the area on Wednesday. Mayor Ray Murphy spoke with WINK News reporter Zach Oliveri and said the city is making ‘terrific progress’ and said the city is working to get residents back to their homes. Murphy said the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department and FEMA USAR team searches are what is keeping people from being able to return. The mayor said there is likely a few more days before the search will be over. The mayor said his biggest message to the people is to stay hopeful and patient.
