Fort Myers Middle Academy (CREDIT: WINK News) A Fort Myers Middle Academy student has been arrested for making a threat to the school. According to a Facebook post by the school, Principal Lynn Edward sent a message to parents announcing the incident. “We do not tolerate this type of behavior at Fort Myers Middle Academy, so on top of the legal consequences, the student will also be disciplined per the Student Code of Conduct,” Edward said. Fort Myers police said they arrested a 12-year-old who made a verbal threat involving a firearm. Edward said the Fort Myers Police Department would be providing extra patrols around the campus on Wednesday morning. “The safety and security of our students and staff is our highest priority,” Edward said. “Thank you for your understanding.” The seventh grader was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center, Fort Myers police said.
