Deputies arrest suspect in 7-Eleven robbery on Ryffel Way in Estero

Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Estero 7-Eleven located on Ryffel Way in reference to a robbery on Aug. 18.

According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, Erody Luis Medina, 25, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk working behind the register.

Medina took the money and drove off in a blue Dodge Caliber.

Shortly after, a deputy spotted Medina parked in the Reef Student Living apartments. They attempted a traffic stop, but Medina refused to comply.

Medina accelerated his vehicle and violently rammed into the deputy’s patrol car causing them to sustain injuries.

The brief pursuit ended after deputies utilized a PIT maneuver to disable Medina’s vehicle, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “my team quickly apprehended this dangerous suspect before he could cause harm to anyone else.”

Medina was arrested and charged with robbery, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding
