Above-average heat, scattered storms return; Danielle possible in the Gulf

High temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s across Southwest Florida. Partly cloudy skies and high humidity will stick with us all day long. Additionally, everyone can expect triple-digit “feels like” temperatures during peak heating.

Boaters will find superb conditions on the water, with 1- to 2-foot wave heights forecast in the Gulf and a light chop in our bays.

Isolated rain chances will persist throughout Friday morning. After a lull in activity in the early afternoon, scattered storms will form across the WINK News viewing area in the late afternoon and evening. These evening thunderstorms will be primarily focused inland. Severe weather is not expected, but Friday’s storms will likely be stronger than Thursday’s.

Potential Tropical System No. 4

The Weather Authority is still tracking one active disturbance in the tropics. Potential Tropical System #4 has been designated in Gulf of Mexico at 5 p.m. along with a cone. Short-lived Danielle is possible for Mexico and southern Texas over the weekend.

This will not impact the weather in Southwest Florida.
