The cause of the fire that destroyed the Island Cow restaurant on Aug. 6 is undetermined.

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the cause of the fire at the Island Cow to be undetermined.

Larry Williams, Fire Marshal at Sanibel Fire and Rescue District said, “Safety is the highest priority for our firefighters and the investigators. The Island Cow was so badly damaged it is unsafe to allow anyone inside. We are just grateful no one was injured during the fire, and we will keep it that moving forward.”
