Credit: Google Maps A 7-year-old girl was seriously injured after running onto Summerlin Road in Iona and being struck by a car Wednesday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an Audi sedan driven by an 81-year-old woman from Sanibel was traveling west in the middle lane of Summerlin Road around 2:20 p.m. The 7-year-old girl from Fort Myers was standing in the grass median south of the westbound lanes before she ran north, directly into the path of the car. The front of the Audi struck the girl and knocked her to the ground. She was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. FHP continues to investigate the crash.
