A business owner is sharing his story after someone is shot across the street from his restaurant in Bonita Springs.

The shooting happened on Old-41 and Wilson Street in Bonita Springs on Sunday afternoon.

It was business as usual on Monday. If you didn’t watch the news or live in the area, you probably wouldn’t have guessed the day before a shooting happened.

“So we heard a gunshot when I was inside, my mom came out here and said like, ‘go outside and see what’s happening.’ At the time I go outside there was at least five, six people next to the kid who got shot in the arm. They were tying a T-shirt around his arm,” said Paul Leroux, part owner of Survey Cafe.

Leroux took the picture of the scene above. WINK News blurred what appears to be an underage boy sitting on the ground with people around him helping him.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

“The first time happening. It’s crazy,” said Leroux.

Less than a mile away, there was another scene Sunday near Hampton Street. Deputies took pictures of a home as well as this black pickup truck that was later towed. It’s unclear if the two scenes are connected.

Victoria Torres said she saw the scene over on Wilson Street and saw a helicopter flying in the area for several hours. Leroux said he’d seen other scenes in the area before.

“Is crazy, but not unbelievable. I don’t know, we’re living in a time everything’s harder and harder, a lot of stress, a lot of things happening, so there’s not a reason. But it’s not unbelievable,” said Leroux.

WINK News is working to find out who pulled the trigger, whether they got caught, and whether the two scenes from Sunday are connected.

WINK News reached out to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office on Monday and has not heard back.
