According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by a 46-year-old North Port man was traveling south in the northbound left lane of US-41 around 8:40 p.m. A car driven by a 31-year-old Punta Gorda man was traveling north in the northbound left lane of US-41. The pickup truck collided head-on with the car and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
