The City of Bonita Springs invites the public to its annual Memorial Day service with a retired Air Force Sergeant as the guest speaker.

Ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. on May 30 in Bonita Springs Riverside Park. This year’s guest speaker is retired Air Force Sergeant David Grossi.

Grossi enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 and volunteered for the Air Force “Ranger” program. He served in South Vietnam until 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1970.

After his time with the Air Force, Grossi served 20 years as a police officer in New York State before retiring and training civilian and military police.

Grossi has received honors such as the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, the New York State Medal for Merit, and the Florida Veterans Service Medal.

Grossi now lives in Bonita Springs and spent time as the Bonita Springs Veterans Advisory Committee Chair. That is the group hosting the Memorial Day ceremonies for the city.

Bonita Springs’ Memorial Day ceremony will include the posting of the colors, the presentation of the blue/gold star banners, a 21-gun salute, and the laying of the wreaths.

If you have questions about the Memorial Day Service, you can call Bonita Springs City Hall at (239) 949-6262.
