We now know who the victim is in a deadly Lehigh Acres shooting. A 24-year-old woman was shot and killed and now her family is speaking out talking about what kind of person she was.

The shooting happened at a home in Lehigh Acres and a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with her murder.

We know the 24-year-old victim’s name is Shanice. WINK News spoke with her family members and they told us they spent most of the day grieving and figuring out funeral arrangements.

Deputies responded to a shooting late Thursday night on Truman Ave. in Lehigh Acres. Very close family members to the victim told me they were at home when the shooting happened.

A family member spoke with us but preferred to remain anonymous.

“All I see is my granddaughter on the floor and she’s not breathing,” she said.

Shanice’s mother found her daughter laying outside not breathing and had to drag her in. Today they showed WINK News where the bullets hit their home. The family of Shanice said she was so young and her whole life was ahead of her and can’t understand why someone would do this.

She says, “I cannot believe it I cannot believe it I want justice for my granddaughter I want justice for my granddaughter she was a happy person.”

She says, “she had two kids she had a life to live for somebody to come and trespass the property and kill her right in front of our door and they give him bond I am impacted from what happened to my granddaughter all I see is my granddaughter on the floor and she is not breathing.”

Police did arrest a suspect. His name is Justin De’Angelo Copland and he appeared before a judge who set his bond at $765K for charges of homicide and destroying evidence.
