A Port Charlotte man was sentenced Friday morning to 70 months in prison for unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Scott Joseph, 31, was adjudicated guilty and sentenced to 70 months in prison followed by 8 years of sex offender probation for one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The defendant will also now be a registered sexual offender.

In 2021, according to state attorney documents, Joseph had sexual contact with a minor (called a teenager in the document, but with no age specified). The exact nature of the contact was not made clear by Joseph’s booking sheet. He got upset and made threatening statements to the victim when she asked him to leave her alone. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office handled the investigation, leading to Joseph’s arrest.
