Deputies have arrested a 22-year-old man they say is responsible for the shooting death of a woman in Lehigh Acres.

The homicide drew law enforcement to a home in the 1100 block of Truman Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said Justin De’Angelo Copland shot a woman in her head.

She was found by deputies dead outside of the home.

Authorities were on the scene through the night and part of Friday.

“It was very scary. It was red and blue flashing lights everywhere yellow tape everywhere and it just seems like something out of a movie. Or you see on the news for somebody else’s neighborhood and you never thinking about your neighborhood,” said one neighbor who asked not to be identified.

Copland was quickly located, arrested and transported to Lee County Jail.

He faces charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
