Credit: Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District Pine Island Road has reopened after a crash shut it down in both directions while emergency crews responded to a car crash with injuries east of Matlacha Friday morning. According to Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District, the crash occurred near D&D Bait and Tackle Marina at 3922 Pine Island Road NW. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the crash, said four vehicles were involved and one person was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
