A memorial in Collier County honoring Jacob Moreno, dying after he walked in front of a deputy’s cruiser Sunday morning.

Friends and community members went to 19-year-old Moreno’s memorial on the corner of Santa Barbara Blvd. and Hunter Blvd in Golden Gate.

“As a person, he always liked to make people happy, he was a funny guy. Literally, every time I saw him, he was around people, loved making friends,” Jeanmarco Cabrera, a longtime friend of the victim says. “It’s really sad to see him go away.”

Cabrera expressed the emotions felt attending Moreno’s memorial, “It doesn’t feel real at all.”

A GoFundMe page says he was an only child and the first to go to college in his family. Moreno was a Florida State University student and just finished his freshman year.

The FHP report says the emergency equipment was activated on the cruiser that hit Moreno.
