An Immokalee High School teacher who sexted young girls will spend his summer in jail. Travis Westberry was arrested last year for inappropriately touching one student and sending nudes to another.

Westberry was meant to be a guiding voice. He was the coach for the boy’s basketball team and teacher of young minds.

Instead, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office says he abused that power by sending naked photos to minors, inappropriately touching students and stalking.

He was arrested in March 2021. On Monday, he pleaded no contest to charges of transferring harmful information to a child via an electronic device and battery.

Instead of facing five years for each of the three felonies, he was charged with, Westberry will only serve 18 months. He is being credited with the 13.5 months that he has already served, leaving him with 4.5 months remaining behind bars.

While it saved him from possibly more jail time, it also saves his victims,  all under 16 at the time, from testifying in court.

As he agreed to his fate in front of the judge, Westberry showed little emotion, only answering questions with a yes or a no.

Once he’s released, Westberry will be on probation for 3.5 years and will have to register as a sex offender.
