When Ukrainian families escape the missiles, weapons, wreckage and fires they often land in Poland.

That’s why Pastor Viktor Antipov, of House of Mercy Church in North Port, made the 5,278-mile journey from North Port to Warsaw to help Ukrainian refugees.

Despite all of the loss and despair, Antipov said he heard no complaints.

Antipov said he is inspired by their positivity.

“And of course, there is some sickness,” he said, “stomach flu, all over, thousands of people and just imagine, smell. So, no complaints, no complaints.”

When he tells them he flew all the way from Florida to help, they are surprised.

“They said, really? I mean, you come here, what are you doing here? I said, Well, I come because I love you. We want to serve you. We want to help you in any way,” Antipov said.

Antipov has helped in many ways. He prays over people, prays with people and offers food, clothes and water and lot of hugs to little children.

“I tried to kind of kneel down and just hug me and hold me. Nothing to say nothing. In hold me in. And I mean, I enjoy but my heart is broken,” Antipov said.
