Merlin the emu remains on the run.

The two-legged, flightless bird has been missing from his Golden Gate Estates home for six days.

His owner believes the bird’s friendly demeanor may have gotten him into trouble.

Marcela Zurita doesn’t have any kids but she considers Merlin and her other animals her babies.

“We’re just hoping that we’re going to get that one call, you know, that they have, you know, and that we can pick them up,” Zurita said.

The missing emu is well-known and liked by its neighbors near 68th and 70th Avenue NE.

Neighbors said they also missed the big bird’s presence.

“He’s very friendly,” said Elybeth Colmenars.

She said Merlin was the first time she saw an emu.
