The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation in a room at a Motel 6 in Englewood. The sheriff’s office said they began investigating after a report from housekeeping.

Housekeeping staff entered the room to clean and told deputies that the room appeared abandoned and are concerned for the occupant. Deputies began their investigation by cordoning off one side of the motel before narrowing their investigation to room 215.

Investigators were seen walking in and out of that room to collect evidence. Deputies were also seen speaking with people who were staying in other rooms. Witnesses told deputies that they heard a verbal disturbance in the room early in the morning.

Deputies say video from the motel confirmed there was an altercation and showed the room’s two occupants leaving on their own. Deputies are still investigating to learn exactly what happened.

The sheriff’s office said they do not believe there is any danger to the public.
