One person killed in crash on SR-80 in Hendry County

Florida Highway Patrol says one person has died after a crash on SR-80 in Hendry County on Thursday morning.

Troopers say a box truck was traveling west in the outside lane near County Road 833 when it came across a disabled flatbed truck on the shoulder of the outside lane just after 10:00 a.m.

The box truck slowed as it approached the disabled truck and swerved to avoid it but instead hit the back left of the disabled truck. The box truck then crossed a grass median and overturned.

Troopers say the box truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the disabled truck was not injured.

FHP says the crash is under investigation.
