Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man who they say sexually assaulted one of his employees while on a job site.

The sheriff’s office says, Amilcar Matute-Turcios, 31, is an unlicensed business owner and was working on a home Puerta Drive when he sexually assaulted an employee.

WINK News spoke with the couple who owns the home. They said they just closed on it this week and had hired Matute-Turcios to paint their home.

They were out walking through their neighborhood on Wednesday when they got a call from their realtor saying deputies had a warrant to search their new home for evidence of an alleged crime. The couple said they were shocked to learn their new home was a potential crime scene.

An employee of Matute-Turcios told law enforcement Tuesday that they were the victim of a sexual assault and Matute-Turcios was responsible.

The couple who owns the home where the crime took place said Matute-Turcios showed up with the employee on Tuesday to begin working. The couple left to go to the hardware store to pick up paint.

They said Matute-Turcios was alone with the employee for a period of time before they met the couple at the hardware store.

The next day, after the victim came forward, deputies searched the home and say they found evidence corroborating the victim’s statement.

While interviewing Matute-Turcios, deputies say he told them he “felt like he raped” the victim and gave a full confession.

Matute-Turcios is behind bars at the Charlotte County Jail.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said US Border Control has placed a detainer on Matute-Turcios. WINK News reached out for more information about the detainer and what that means for this investigation but has not received a response.
