A flight out of RSW was delayed for several hours on Sunday, and a passenger on that flight told WINK News that there was an issue with the pilot.

Frontier Airlines delayed flight 910 from RSW to Buffalo on Sunday morning. But, the passengers on that flight didn’t find out about the delay until 15 minutes after they boarded the plane.

Jeanne Guzy was one of those passengers. “Once we got on the plane, they said, ‘Oh, we’re waiting on the status of the pilot.’ Okay, fine. And then, 15 minutes later, we’re all loaded in. They said, ‘Oh, the pilots in Miami, he’s taking a taxi, and he should be here in about three hours,'” said Guzy.

Then, everyone was instructed to get off of the plane. “I felt really bad because right next to me was, you know, a family with little kids,” Guzy said. “All that time that they had to kind of be trapped in the airplane…and going nowhere.”

Guzy said she flies with Frontier often because they have direct flights to Buffalo. “But after this one, I think we’re giving up on Frontier,” said Guzy.

Jeanne said this was an inconvenience for everyone involved and hopes she hears from Frontier. “Other airlines, there are certain factors, and then you should be compensated like the guy has to take a taxi from Miami. It’s not weather-related or, you know what I mean, it was just crazy,” Guzy said.

Then, nearly four hours later, they got some answers via the pilot on the loudspeaker. “Flight 910 this is service to Buffalo, New York. I do apologize for the delay, I’d just been driven in from the Miami airport, so it took me a while to get here. But I do appreciate your patience, and we’ll try to make up the time and fly as fast as possible to Buffalo,” the pilot said.

The flight that was originally scheduled for 8:08 a.m. didn’t depart until noon. “It’s more than 90 minutes. It’s over three hours,” said Guzy.

“So, at the very least, they should be giving us some vouchers,” Guzy said.

Guzy wishes there could have been some sort of forewarning that this would happen. She told WINK News she contacted Frontier, and they did end up giving her a $50 voucher.

WINK News reached out to Frontier Airlines for comment, but we have not yet heard back.
