Storage units at a Southwest Florida Military Museum were damaged while moving.

It happened at the Naples Museum of Military History, which prides itself on offering compelling stories through artifacts dating back to the Revolutionary War.

The weapons, uniforms, medals and ribbons are all donated by veterans and their families.

During a recent move, a plexiglass and storage bins were broken. For a museum on a shoestring budget that relies on donations, it’s a big hit.

A Naples moving company is to blame, according to Dave Hinds, who is in charge of the museum.

“So the gentleman who owns a business, Chris Duffy, asked me to send photos, he checked with his man and they said they did the damage,” Hinds said.

Hinds said the damage totaled close to $240. He sent the receipt to Duffy, owner of Move 4 U, more than six months ago.

Duffy told WINK News he misplaced the paperwork.

But Hinds doesn’t buy it.

“When I send the receipts of the material that we bought, and we went ahead and repair them ourselves. He said he would send money ASAP. And that would be the third week in September. And I contact them every couple of weeks,” Hinds said.
