You can now call March 8 “Baio Backs The Blue” Day in Collier County. Baio as in “Happy Days” actor Scott Baio.

Baio, an outspoken supporter of law enforcement who donates proceeds from his one-person shows to pro-police groups like the Naples-based Fallen Officers Foundation, was in Collier County on Tuesday to hear the proclamation and tour the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

“They would sacrifice themselves for me, and they don’t know me. And I find that amazing or sacrifice their life for you. And that’s it’s… they’re amazing people. And I think, you know, they’ve been maligned over the past couple of years,” Baio said.

“When you can get someone like Mr. Baio to come in, who supports law enforcement around the country and, more importantly, our fallen officers, that is critically important to both today and the future,” said Collier County Sheriff Kevin Rambosk.

Baio believes people should agree that, while there may be some bad apples, most law enforcement officers are well-meaning heroes who want to make it home at the end of the day.
