Lamborghini on fire after Sunday Morning crash on the Edison Bridge.

Florida Highway Patrol says one person is in critical condition and several others are hurt after a high-speed crash at the north end of the Edison Bridge early Sunday morning.

FHP says around 2:30 a.m on Sunday, a Mercedes sedan and a Lamborghini were traveling North across the Edison Bridge at a high rate of speed when the Mercedes hit a curb and lost control. Troopers say the Mercedes veered into the Lamborghini before crashing through bushes and rolling over into the Caloosahatchee River.

After being hit by the Mercedes, Troopers say the Lamborghini traveled across the southbound lanes, then rolled, hitting a light pole and catching fire.

FHP says the driver of the Mercedes is in critical condition. A passenger in that car also has serious injuries. Troopers say a passenger in the Lamborghini also has serious injuries. The driver of the Lamborghini and a second passenger in the Mercedes had only minor injuries.

The Edison Bridge was shut down from about 2:30 a.m. until 6:30 a.m. as the crash was cleaned up and investigated.

The crash is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. They say charges are pending.
