The woman was standing in the inside lane of Pine Island Road, near the intersection of Verona Drive, when a vehicle traveling east, driven by a 29-year-old Cape Coral man, struck her, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. The woman was pronounced dead on scene. The crash remains under investigation.
