The Lee County Sheriff’s Office warns residents of a new scheme to steal their money.

They say that crooks call Lee County residents asking for large sums of money to resolve warrants. Suspects supposedly call victims and pose as high-ranking officials within the sheriff’s office.

The caller later requests cash deposits and gift cards as a way to eliminate the warrant. Then, they’ll state case numbers, addresses and county employees’ names to convince the victim.

LCSO says it will not request money, in any form, to resolve any legal or criminal issues.

If you receive a message or phone call like this, you’re being asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 239-477-1000 or report it on their website.
