Two men have been arrested in connection with a Wednesday home robbery and car chase in Lehigh Acres.

Willie Bell, 18, and 20-year-old Demetrius Beckworth are accused of leading Lee County deputies in a high-speed chase through neighborhoods and traffic that ended after the two drove to a canal.

The two disregarded all form of life, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said on Wednesday.

The duo is accused of a home invasion robbery and another robbery at a construction site.

The incident began as a home invasion on 28 Street W. Then there was a reported robbery at a construction site in the 1400 block of Fred Ave. N.

The homeowner said three men wearing masks burst into her home through the garage and found her roommate.

They pistol-whipped her roommate before they went deeper into the home.

“They were inside for maybe three minutes. It all happened so fast,” said the woman who asked to not be identified.

The armed men ran into her as she was walking out of her room with her two children. She said she ran back inside her bedroom with her children and locked the door.

“We’re so scared because what if they come back,” she said.

Then they went by the construction site.

Deputies said Beckworth was the driver of the vehicle and Bell his passenger.

They crashed into two vehicles as they fled from deputies and nearly hit a school bus.

A pit maneuver was used to end the chase near a canal.

On Wednesday, Marceno said three people were detained and a 21-year-old was under arrest for the crime.

The 21-year-old has not been identified yet.
