20-year-old woman killed in wrong-way crash at Collier County intersection

A 20-year-old woman from Cape Coral was killed in a wrong-way crash at an intersection in Collier County Thursday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 46-year-old woman from Naples was driving a car north in the southbound lane of Everglades Boulevard North around 3:30 p.m., actively passing other traffic as she approached 43rd Avenue NE. The driver from Cape Coral stopped her car for the posted stop sign on 43rd Avenue NE before starting a left turn onto Everglades Boulevard North. The northbound car T-boned the left side of the turning car.

Both cars came to rest on the grass shoulder. The 20-year-old was declared dead. The crash remains under investigation.
