A student at Royal Palm Exceptional Center, in the Lee County school district, was arrested for bringing a knife onto campus according to the district.

The Fort Myers Police Department said the student “was arrested this morning from an incident earlier in the week involving having a knife on school property. There was no altercation or injury to anyone.”

In addition, the school said in an email to parents:

Good afternoon Royal Palm families,

In the interest of open communication, I want to let you know that a student has been arrested for bringing a knife to campus earlier in the week. At no time were any students threatened by this student.

On top of the legal consequences, we do not tolerate this kind of behavior at Royal Palm Exceptional Center. I want to thank the parent who brought this to our attention.

Thank you for trusting us with your student.
