After a couple of mornings of widespread 40s, Thursday was off to a milder start and is ending with a warmer afternoon.

Look for highs back into the low 80s for several areas under a mix of sun and clouds. A stray shower or two will be possible for areas of eastern Collier county.

Heading into Friday and the weekend, we’ll be keeping our eyes on an approaching cold front.

There is still an unusually large amount of uncertainty amongst computer models when it comes to the timing of this front, but for right now, plan on at least having the chance for some isolated rain both Friday and Saturday.

Something to monitor heading into Friday and Saturday will also be the potential for severe storms. While this will largely depend on the timing and location of this front — which is still in question thanks to model discrepancies — the threat currently appears low. The Storm Prediction Center as the southern two-thirds of Southwest Florida under a level 1 out of 5 risk for severe storms. This will likely be modified as models get a better grasp on this system over the next 12 – 24 hours.

What is for certain is that we will see cooler and drier air move in for Sunday. In fact, by Monday, lows will be back down into the 40s!
