A 32-year-old Naples man was arrested by Collier deputies on Wednesday after deputies say he followed and touched two women and intimidated another two.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said Jonas Charles is charged with two counts of battery. Additional charges may be filed at a later time.

The incidents happened in the Collier County Government Center complex shortly before 8 a.m. Deputies said Charles appeared to be homeless.

The first woman told deputies that Charles grabbed her by the shoulders and midsection as she was walking away from a parking area in the complex. She pushed him and called a co-worker for help.

Charles then approached a second woman and began circling her. She pushed him away and shouted.

He then approached a third woman who he grabbed by her shoulder, deputies said. The woman fled.

Charles then circled a fourth woman and stood in front of her without letting her pass.

Collier deputies and Collier County government security staff have been working together to provide extra security at the government complex grounds in recent weeks and those enhanced measures are expanding to include additional hours.
