Farmer Joe’s opened its doors in Cape Coral on Tuesday and people are shopping in big numbers.

The new grocery store on Pine Island Road offers a farm-to-table experience.

Nearly every spot in the parking lot was full and police directed traffic.

Some people parked at Aldi next door.

The owner said he expected a grand opening but nothing like this.

“A lot of different things that you can’t find anywhere but online or you have to drive all the way down to Naples or Tampa or some places to find these cool things,” said Carlo Galloway of Cape Coral.

She said the store is what Cape Coral needs.

“Fresh-made guacamole and it was really really good and I have a sensitivity to wheat and you can’t find these any place so I was really excited to see these,” Galloway said.

The store is 55,000 square feet. To prepare, 500 employees were hired ahead of opening day.
