An SUV, driven by a 78-year-old man with a 79-year-old woman as a passenger, both from Bonita Springs, was traveling north in the left turn lane of US-41 around 10:30 p.m. when it attempted to turn left onto Pelican Colony Boulevard. The 24-year-old motorcyclist was traveling south on US-41, approaching Pelican Colony Boulevard. The SUV turned left in front of the motorcycle, which collided with the right side of the SUV. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing. The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of those involved in crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
