Two young men found a wallet in the middle of a busy shopping center parking lot. And, instead of keeping the cash and the other content of the wallet, they returned it to its rightful owner. This meant the world to the man who lost it.

The day before Thanksgiving, Tom Stiling went to Miromar Outlets. He didn’t go for the shopping deals. He simply went to pick up a to-go order.

When he arrived home, that’s when he realized he’d lost his wallet. “I frantically got back in the car and went back to the mall. I retraced my steps, looked everywhere, and walked into a couple of different shops,” Stiling said.

After 45 minutes of searching, he came up empty-handed. So, Stiling gave up and went home. Once there, he picked up his phone to cancel his credit cards.

But then he received another call. “I get another call from this young man in Fort Myers, and he called to tell me that he actually found my wallet in the parking lot,” Stiling said.

The pair met at Miromar Outlets right in front of the antique car at Ford’s Garage. “Two men came up to me and asked, ‘are you Mr. Tom?’ And I said ‘yes, I am,’ and they said they were the boys I had found my wallet. I looked at them. I gave them both a big hug,” said Stiling.

Stiling was so grateful that he tried to offer the young men a reward. “I could see that when they gave it to me and saw how thankful I was, I think it might’ve made their Thanksgiving as well to be able to do something so generous and so honest for somebody that they didn’t know,” Stiling said.

He made them take $80 for their honesty and the trouble they went through to get his wallet back to him. “It’s gentlemen like you that just warms our hearts and give us great hope for you guys’ as future leaders,” Stiling said.

So, you may be wondering how the two guys who found the wallet were able to get in touch with Stiling? Tom says he had a business card in his wallet that made it easy for them to give him a call.
