The Naples Zoo gala took place Thursday night with animals, dancers and decorations, all for a good cause.

The gala supports the zoo’s work with endangered species. The event, sponsored by WINK News, raised more than $2.8 million, breaking the zoo’s fundraising record for a single event.

The breakdown of the proceeds includes $1.8 million toward the zoo’s capital campaign and $1 million toward the endowment for the zoo.

The zoo’s $25 million capital campaign goal will go toward a new entrance, a new education center, new exhibits, and much more.

“It’s going to transform the zoo and we’re about one million away, so we’re hoping the zoo gala will get us a little closer,” said Jack Mulvena, president and CEO of Naples Zoo.

Donations to the zoo may be made at NaplesZoo.org.
