An unconventional wedding takes place in a pool in Fort Myers.

A couple tied the knot underwater. They spent 12 minutes in a pool as family and friends watched from above.

On any given day, that’s just an ordinary pool. But, one day, it was filled with love birds and holy water.

“Roger that diver three, I do.”

John Bradley Rogers explains why he decided to get married underwater. “I’ve been an underwater construction business since 1992, never been married, and it’s always been my dream to be underwater when I got married,” Roger said.

Dreams can come true when the love flows — swimmingly. “You may now headbutt the bride.”

Jenna Rogers is Brad’s wife. “I always said I never wanted to get married in a white dress. So, when he asked me to get married to him underwater, I was like, this is perfect,” said Jenna.

For about 12 minutes John Bradley and Jenna Rodgers went below the water’s surface, with hard hats on and microphones inside. This sealed their commitment to forever. “This bond is never broken and continues in a perpetual circle.”

It wasn’t a rapid dive into the pool to get to this day. “It was terrifying. That was my fourth time diving, so we had been hardhat training, I’ve been training with a personal trainer, so I could hold up the 34 pound hardhat,” said Jenna.

While Jenna was training, John Bradley configured a dive station to make all of this possible. He added an extra hardhat for the three people underwater. He also added an extra radio so everyone could hear the “I dos.”

WINK News asked John Bradley if it’s a tough competition between his love for water and his life for his wife. “Absolutely not,” John Bradley said.

“Just your wife in the water, that’s his love,” said Jenna laughing. Love runs thicker than water.

Now, the couple of plans on making this a tradition. When the time comes to renew their vows, you can expect to find them below the water’s surface.
