Lingering rain and storms are still moving through the area this afternoon.

A storm with broad rotation moved across Cape Coral and Fort Myers but no tornado watches were issued by the NWS.

Some wind damage has been reported in Southeast Cape Coral by WINK News viewers. The National Weather Service says straight-line winds were in the area at the time which could cause potential damage, however, no data shows a tornado was present.

We have a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe storms, where some gusty to damaging winds will be a possibility out of any developing storms along with a low-end threat for a weak tornado.

The second line of storms and showers moved through around 4 p.m. and the majority of the activity should subside by the overnight hours.

We’ll see improvements Friday night as a low-pressure system moves east of our area and a cold front moves through.

Drier air will begin to move in, leaving us mainly dry for Saturday, other than the chance for a quick-moving, stray shower on Saturday morning.

Just in time for Wink’s Taste of the Town we have cooler and drier conditions on the way! This weekend will be perfect to head out and have some fun.

Saturday will be windy behind this system, with sustained winds out of the northwest of 10 to 20 mph and gusts of up to and over 30 mph.

Cooler air will continue to move in throughout the weekend. Highs will only reach into the 70s on both days.

By Saturday night, temperatures should fall into the 50s for the first time this season in Fort Myers. Sunday will be dry and seasonably cool with a mix of sun and clouds.
