This crash happened just after noon on Friday, November 5 near the intersection of State Road 82 and Calumet Road. According to Florida Highway Patrol, two women in a Honda CRV were traveling west on SR-82. They were in the outside lane. A man in a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling in the inside lane, just behind the SUV. The SUV attempted to make a left turn toward the median. The front of the truck collided with the left side of the SUV. The SUV rolled over and came to a stop in the median along SR-82. The passenger of the SUV, a 47-year-old Immokalee woman, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the CRV, a 39-year-old woman from Immokalee, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital and was in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. The passenger was not wearing a seatbelt, according to FHP. It is unknown whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt. The Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of people involved in traffic crashes, citing Marsy’s Law.
