More than $77,000 may be sitting around in someone’s pocket, but only for a few more hours. The Florida Lottery “Fantasy Five” top winning prize ticket from May 1st was sold in Southwest Florida, but the deadline to claim it is 11:59 p.m Thursday.

The Florida Lottery put a flyer out all over social media on Thursday reminding the ticket holder that the clock’s ticking.

Jason Levine and Kevin McIntyre who are on vacation from Massachusetts said they wish they had the winning ticket. “I could use $77,000,” said Levin. McIntyre said, “yeah we could come up with a lot of cool things to do with it.”

Peter Slota, from Bonita Springs, said, “what a shame so much you can do with it.”

The lottery said someone bought the Fantasy Five ticket at a Bonita Springs Publix on May 1st, five months later and they have yet to claim the cash.

Mike Marino, from Bonita Springs, is a pro when it comes to the lottery, WINK News actually spoke to him right after he had purchased his weekly lotto tickets. “I think it’s sad, it’s very sad because I know I study my tickets to make sure I haven’t missed any numbers or anything like that. I look at the results online every single day.”

Levine said, “I don’t understand people who buy a lottery ticket and don’t check it.” McIntyre agreed, “yeah, if I knew that I could potentially win $77,000 I would’ve 100% checked it.”

Paul Haagensen said it makes him want to double-check and make sure he isn’t the winner. “It makes me think I should check that stack of tickets by the computer!”

If no one comes forward by midnight $61,600 will go to the state’s educational enhancement trust fund.

The rest will go back into the prize pool for future Fantasy Five jackpots.
